How Beneficial Is Massage?

February 15th, 2006

Here are just a few reasons you should receive massage regularly:

1.  Massage dilates or opens up the blood vessels, improving the circulation and relieving congestion of blood. (Gets the blood pumping)

2.  Massage acts as a "mechanical cleanser", pushing along lymph and hastening the elimination of waste and toxic debris.  (Takes out the trash)

3.  Massage improves muscle tone and helps prevent or delay muscular atrophy resulting from forced inactivity.  (Massage therapist exercises for you :-) )

4.   Massage may have a sedative, stimulating, or even exhausting, effect on the nervous system, depending on the type of massage treatment given.  (Beats a sleeping pill)

5.   Massage may, according to authorities, burst the fat capsule in the subcutaneous tissue so that the fat exudes and becomes absorbed.  In this way, massage combined with a nutritious, but calorie-deficient diet can be an aid to reducing. (Rub the fat away)

**Most important benefit - - Massage feels good!

What Is Reflexology?

January 8th, 2006

Reflexology is the physical act of applying specific pressure to points in the body that stimulates a correlative affect of the body. There are reflex points all over the body, however, the feet are most effective. By massaging points in the feet, health is promoted to all aspects of the body, including internal organs, nervous system, skeletal and muscular system, and endocrine system which is responsible for hormone balance in the body.

BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY:

Reflexology is believed to help boost the immune system, improving circulation of oxygenated blood and nutrients to the cells. Reflexology therefore strengthens the body’s defense system to fight sickness and disease.

Reflexology promotes balance to the body without adverse affect. Trauma and stress can cause energy pathways in the body to become blocked. Balancing the body through reflexology is one way to restore energy to flow untrapped through the body.

Reflexology reduces stress and brings relaxation to the body. You are never to young to receive reflexology. Reflexology works fast in infants and children. Not only is a good loving foot massage a relaxing treat, it is a great tool in bonding with little ones as well as we bigger kids and will keep our bodies healthier and stronger

Self-Massage Tips

November 11th, 2005

Tip 1

For those “hard to reach” spots on your back and shoulders, a dead tennis ball will do just the trick. Use a dead tennis ball, a ball that doesn’t bounce as well as a new one, because it has more “give” to it and will be softer for using as a massage tool. Place the ball in the toe of a long sock. Throw the ball end of the sock over your shoulders and let it drop to that “spot” between your shoulders that needs the massage. Then roll against the wall. Ahhhhh

Tip 2

A great way to wake up your feet is to take that tennis ball and roll it in the arch of your foot. Standing seems to be easier for me. Here is a trick you can try first before rolling the ball on your feet. Test your flexibility first by standing with straight legs and bending over and see how far you are from your toes. Repeat after you massage your feet. See what happens

Are You Ready For Cold Weather?

October 13th, 2005

With a change in seasons, new elements are introduced to our bodies that
could effect the body’s defense system. Sudden temperature changes,
blooming plants, and holiday stress can compromise the body’s immune system.
Here are a few tips that can keep your body strong and healthy through the
winter months.

1. Rest is very important. The body repairs itself as we sleep. Don’t
compete with the “Energizer Bunny”, your body will shut down one way or the
other. Rest.

2. Diet fuels our bodies so it can keep up with the demands of the day.
All foods are NOT created equal. Foods that are laden with fats or over
processed robs our bodies of the nutrients it needs. These types of foods
also puts extra stress on the digestive system.

3. Exercise is a great way to burn off extra adrenaline from the day’s
mental stress
. Some find this helps them to relax and sleep better at
night. If you sit at a desk all day your muscles need the stimulation to
stay strong and healthy.

4. Massage and Reflexology is an excellent way to keep your immune system
strong.
Massage flushes toxins from the muscle tissues and prevents injury.
Reflexology keeps the energy balanced in our body which assists the immune
system greatly. Massage and Reflexology is very effective for babies and
small children, and it works quickly.
